At Berry Bee Publishing, Michelle's purpose is to write and share meaningful stories with complex medical care and disability representation, that inspire readers to think, feel, and grow. Michelle believes that great storytelling and children's books have the power to change lives and educate children on how to be inclusive to others of all abilities.
Michelle's vision is a world in which children with disabilities are represented in media on all levels. Currently, only 3.6% of children's books have disability representation, and Michelle wants to be part of the movement to change that. Each child deserves to see themselves in a book and to feel seen, heard and understood.
Michelle values creativity, diversity, accessibility and inclusivity. Michelle believes that everyone has a story to tell, and is committed to giving a glimpse into the lives of children and families who have disabilities and/or complex care needs in her children's books. She values their stories and struggles in daily life, so wants them

Being a mother myself, I find Doctor appointments very overwhelming. Trying to remember what I wanted to ask, the history of my child, their medications and prescription, as well as what the Doctor said, became a lot of extra mental burden, especially during the sick winter months.
I made this for myself in October 2023 and wanted to share it with others to reduce the carer stress that comes with having a family.
Released in March 2024, "Our Playground Photo Journal" was inspired by the numbat at a Denmark park that I sat my son on during a road trip to Albany. The parks and playgrounds decorated with such a unique statue, made it a memorable moment.
The journal encourages you to explore different playgrounds with your child, with a photo challenge that is inclsuve for children of different needs and equipment, as well as promoting questions regarding that challenge's theme.
"Maisy and Daisy Move House" was inspired through my work with children and families using wheelchairs. Buying a property that meets all your needs in general is difficult, add to that needing to meet accesibility needs and in this expensive market, often you buy a house that is not ideal but can be adjusted to meet your needs. This is the story of many families needing to modify their home to meet their child needs.
Released in April 2024, this story is the beginning, and where better to start then the home.
